Cable Cosplay- Arm Tutorial Part 1

Next up in the Cable cosplay series, the arm! I learned a lot making this arm and I plan to remake it in the future as this version was not ideal. But, I’m hoping it could still help you, so I’m writing the tutorial anyway. I will write a new one when I remake the arm.

You will need:

  • Foam (I used 3 mm foam from TNT cosplay)
  • Plastic wrap
  • Duct tape
  • Corrugated cable covers (I bought a small and large, both from Lowes)
  • Heat gun
  • Pastidip
  • Black spray paint
  • Silver spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint

First, let’s make the forearm pattern. Wrap your arm in plastic wrap arms duct tape. Draw your pattern. Carefully cut pattern off your arm.

Clean up pattern and add ticks for placement later. Name pieces. Cut out pattern and transfer to foam. Cut out foam. Use contact cement to attach pieces. Be sure to leave one side open so you can install velcro to make it easier to put on and take off.

Add details. Install velcro.

Heat seal carefully (corrugated tubes will melt) and plastidip. Black spray paint next. Spray with silver spray paint. Weather with black paint using dry brush technique. (picture is of upper arm, I apparently didn’t take any photos of this process with the forearm, sorry)

And your forearm is finished! Stay tuned for the upper arm and hand!

And as always, keep cosplaying!
